Recipe: Blueberry Yogurt Parfait with Granola

Hello friends & welcome back to the show,

In my quest to become a more holistic version of myself, I’m becoming more conscious of the “healthy” foods that are marketed to us.

When it comes to yogurt, we often don’t realize how much sugar is lurking behind the claims of health. The info-graphic below is a stark reminder of the hidden sugars and after seeing this, I knew it was time for a change.

In order for me to have a better idea of how sugar I’m ingesting with my breakfast yogurt, I’ve started making my own parfaits featuring sugar free, 5% milk-fat Greek yogurt ( any brand will do), my homemade blueberry compote and a granola of my choice (at this time, that is Trader Joe’s Just The Clusters Ginger Almond & Cashew Granola).

With a homemade compote, one tablespoon goes a long way and packs a mighty load of flavor for less sugar than commercial brands of yogurt.

For my blueberry compote recipe, click here.

My compote only adds 6 grams of sugar to the yogurt and it’s all natural sugar derived from honey and blueberries! The granola adds 7 grams of sugar and while it’s a yummy touch, if you’re really trying to par down on sugar, you can skip this.
